I just received my rock chasing field guide rocks and minerals of the United States and I must say I am thoroughly impressed the quality of craftsmanship is impressive very thick, durable laminated pages with a strong spiral binding, clear, precise, pictures of not only finished , but stones in the rough, i’m especially happy to now have an identifying list for each and everyone of these rocks and minerals from the streak test to the hardness and transparency is priceless information which is very important, especially for a field guide the extensive coverage of the mineral rocks and crystals provided in the field guide is impressive I am excited to have received this book and I’m really looking forward to using it while prospecting. it has motivated me to plan a rock chasing trip this coming weekend thanks so much for sharing it with me and I would recommend it to anybody whether for hobbie or full-time rockhound a considerate a bargain at the price that I purchased it for and I’m looking forward to more material and practical use tools in the future Thanks again.                             Rock, hard, happy and excited

All of the info you need to identify your Treasures! Best thing, the great photos show the gem in raw form also. It's the best guide we have come across yet because it is a spiral notebook with laminated pages do you can bring it with you on your rockhounding adventures. Minerals are listed in alphabetical order and each gives the following info: Streak, Luster, Crystal Shape, Fluorescent, Hardness, Magnetic, Transparency, Color and Misc. I love their website also and subscribe to the newsletter which is full of great info. I would ( and already have) recommend purchasing this book if you are a rockchasing hounding like us!

This is a great book to buy. It’s not only great for beginners who just started rock hunting, but it’s a great tool for everyone else. Each page is laminated, with clear, colorful, & well contrasted images for identification. The identification is short and simple, great use for a field guide.

There are so many things we like about this guide. First of all, it’s simple enough that even children can use. It isn’t filled with complicated text on how rocks are formed. Kids don’t want to read a lot of information when they’re out in the field. They just want to know how to identify the rocks and with this field guide the rocks are easily identified. The photos are clear and show two different forms of the rock, which is very helpful. My 14 year old likes that the element symbols are included and it is in alphabetical order. I like that it is waterproof, sturdy, and can wipe clean. I can’t wait to take this on our next road trip so we can identify all the rocks we collect!!
