๐ DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S HIDING ALONG THE BLUE RIDGE FOOTHILLS AND CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVERBEDS?
Amethyst clusters tumbling out of Jackson County hillsides. Staurolite fairy crosses scattered across north Georgia trails. Placer gold still glinting in Dahlonega creek beds nearly two centuries after the rush.
Georgia sits on some of the most overlooked rockhounding ground in the Southeast, and most hikers walk right past these treasures every single weekend. This Georgia rocks and minerals field guide shows you exactly what 130+ specimens look like in the wild so you stop guessing and start identifying with confidence.
๐ธ HOW 300+ PHOTOS HELP YOU IDENTIFY ANY GEORGIA ROCK IN SECONDS, EVEN AS A COMPLETE BEGINNER:
Every specimen is photographed raw and cleaned up, side by side, so you match the rock in your hand to the picture on the page. Each entry in this rock and mineral identification guide includes everything you need for simple, fast, accurate results in the field.ย
No geology degree needed. No confusing jargon. Just clear photos and real scientific data that make rock collecting straightforward for every skill level, from first timers to experienced collectors.
๐ก๏ธ TAKE IT INTO RED CLAY, SUMMER HUMIDITY, AND MOUNTAIN STORMS. IT WILL STILL LOOK NEW YEARS FROM NOW:
Every page of this rock identification book is sealed in heavy duty waterproof lamination with a metal spiral binding that lays flat in one hand. Compact enough to toss in a daypack or glovebox.
Tough enough to outlast guides twice its size and three times its weight. This rock book was built for Appalachian trails and Coastal Plain heat, not for a bookshelf.
๐ฒย THE SCREEN FREE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY WILL ACTUALLY ASK TO DO AGAIN:
Mountain streams, Piedmont quarries, coastal beaches, even your own backyard. This Georgia rocks and minerals book turns any outing into a real life treasure hunt for all ages.
Kids learn real geology alongside adults, with vivid photos and scientific data from a geology book that builds genuine confidence instead of confusion. The kind of shared experience that creates stories your family retells for years.
๐ย GIVE THEM THE GUIDE THEY WILL ACTUALLY PACK ON EVERY TRIP TO THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS:
Whether they're a seasoned rockhound or a grandchild who can't stop picking up "cool rocks" on the trail, this is the gift that goes where they go. As the trusted Georgia field reference they'll reach for again and again, it covers 130+ specimens from the Blue Ridge to the Atlantic coast.
Nearly indestructible and small enough for a cargo pocket. Rockhounding the Peach State has never been this accessible. Skip the novelty gift that ends up in a drawer and give them something they'll use for a decade.

Very interesting book. Easy to read and understand.
I bought this field guide as a gift for a family member and she absolutely loves it!!! If she's happy then I'm thrilled with this purchase.
Havenโt used in field yet. I donโt live in Georgia but this format for field manual looks great.
This is an excellent field guide for anyone interested in rockhounding, collecting minerals, or simply learning more about the rocks they find around Georgia. The information is detailed but easy to understand, making it useful for both beginners and experienced collectors.I really like the layout of this guide. Each entry includes helpful identification details, information about where specimens can be found, and clear photos that show both the natural rough state and the cleaned specimen. Being able to compare what you find in the field to both versions makes identification much easier. The physical quality of the book is also outstanding. The laminated pages make it durable enough to take outdoors without worrying about dirt, moisture, or wear, and the spiral binding lets it lay flat while you're searching through it. The compact size makes it easy to pack in a backpack, making it a great companion for hikes, creek walks, and rockhounding trips. What I like most is that this feels like a true field guide rather than just a reference book for a shelf. It encourages you to get outside and explore while helping you understand what you've discovered. This would make a fantastic resource for rock collectors, families, students, or anyone curious about Georgia's geology. Highly recommended!
I am very new to rock hunting and thought I would give this book a try. It is a well made book. The spiral binding makes it easy to lay the book out flat to compare or bend the book in half to be open to the page you want to be on. The pages are laminated so that you can wipe off any dirt or goo you get on them. This is small enough to fit in a fanny pack or backpack. I love the pictures! There is so much information on each page. I can see pictures of the rock, where to find it, what it is made of, etc. etc. So exciting! I am collecting these from all of the county so that when I am out backpacking through our country I can take the book for that region and find the rock. Everything is so clear and easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this book for rock hounds everywhere.
