Rockhunters of Pa this is a well made book!

This is an interesting book for me! The pricing was a little high but totally worth it for the quality of this book! I've been up in to NY rockhounding crystals at Herkimer NY and when I saw this book for PA I thought it would be great in my bookshelf! So this book has 300+ photos, on 120 rocks and minerals and information on the pages on where you can sometimes find these rocks -and I'd believe all of them except gold! I do not think you are going to be that lucky! I like that it shows the rocks detailed information: streak, luster, rarity, magnetism, fluorescence, hardness, crystal system, transparency, color, location (general area), miscellaneous details. The spiral binding so you can open the page to whatever page without breaking the book spine is a nice feature. The best feature I see is this book is all laminated so you can put this book in your backpack and take it with you on day hikes or camping trips and no worries about getting it ruined in bad weather! I wish more books on camping/hiking/wild plants/outdoors field guides would be setup like this book because this book is nicely made! I'm rating this book a five out of five because it's cool! I look forward to bringing this book with me next time I'm out hiking with my son so he can hopefully find cool rocks! Thank you! -Mike

Great Book for Kids Who LOVE Rocks and Minerals

My 9-year-old absolutely loves this book. He’s really into rocks and minerals, and this guide is easy enough for him to read and use on his own without being overwhelming. The photos are clear and helpful, and the information is interesting without feeling too “textbook.”The pages are waterproof and writable, which is such a great feature for taking it outside. The book itself feels heavier and more durable than expected, like it’s made to actually be used in the field and not fall apart. It feels like something that will last for a long time.Overall, this is a fantastic field guide for kids who love nature, but it would also be useful for adults. Very impressed with the quality and design.

Such a cool book

This book is such a cool little resource to be able to use to examine rocks. I love that every one of the pages is laminated and that the book is spiral bound so that the pages are protected from the environment and also the book will lay flat. The colors of the pictures in the book are vibrant and so it’s easy to match up the rocks that you’re collecting with the different rocks and minerals inside of this book. All the different types of rocks/minerals are listed in the book in alphabetical order, which also makes it a really easy resource to use if you think you already know what rock or mineral you are examining. Whether you’re using this to homeschool, for an adventure with your kids, or just for your own personal enjoyment, this is a really nice resource.
